Custom Abstract Canvas Art Enhancing Classical London Interiors

For this exceptional period property in London, we were invited to create bespoke hand-painted artwork that would reflect the rich layers of design running throughout the home. This project offered a highly decorative canvas: traditional architectural features, contemporary luxury finishes, and a strong focus on textural layering - a perfect environment for introducing made-to-order abstract canvas art.

The design scheme balanced historic charm with modern elegance. Classic fireplaces, ornate cornices, original ceiling roses and panelled walls coexisted with statement chandeliers, mirrored cabinets, plush upholstery, and carefully curated decorative objects. The interiors were rich yet calm, with a restrained palette of taupe, ivory, grey and soft metallics, allowing the textures and materials to shine.

Our role was to develop contemporary abstract wall art that would enhance this sophisticated backdrop, adding depth and visual movement without overpowering the existing detailing. Working closely with the client and designer, we created custom hand-painted canvas artwork that introduced subtle geometry and softly fractured forms, echoing the linearity of the mirrors, the marble fireplaces and the statement lighting.

The commissioned made-to-order abstract wall art added visual rhythm and calm sophistication to this highly layered interior, blending seamlessly with its classical proportions.

In the principal bedroom, a single abstract canvas was commissioned to sit above the fireplace. Its layered neutral tones and horizon-inspired composition referenced the clean symmetry of the joinery, while adding fluidity and gentle contrast to the highly tailored surroundings. The result was an artwork that felt fully integrated - designed for the architecture rather than simply placed within it.

In the main living area, a larger scale piece was produced for the marble fireplace wall, combining soft monochromatic movement with bold linear accents, creating a sophisticated centrepiece framed by the room’s intricate plasterwork and reflective surfaces. This made-to-order abstract wall art provided a calm focal point that tied together the contrasting textures of velvet, silk, polished metals and stone.
